Devices

The Device Inspector Editor is used to set a data source, otherwise known as a device, hardware or unit. The following sections describe available devices. Note that devices are from a common pool and can not be shared which means there can be only one device collecting data for a strip chart at a time; however there can be multiple strip charts per documents and several documents opened at the same time and each strip chart graph can have a separate device assigned to it and acquiring data.

Devices	Description
Basic USB	Basic USB¹.
None	This is the device unit preference that is shown if no unit is current.
Pro USB	Pro USB¹.
Serial Port	Serial Port¹.
Simulation	This is a simulation unit good for testing out configurations².
Sound In	Sound In¹.
Standard USB	Standard USB¹.
URL	This is a web client IOT device that is a client to a SOA server².

Device implementations are dependent upon the host hardware, device drivers and availability of associated hardware. Care has been taken to make this fact clear in this manual. If you have a question, or need support for a specific device, then please email support@vvi.com.
